This past weekend myself and 7 other Audi enthusiasts from Audizine.com went on a scenic cruise through Northern Arizona’s highways from Phoenix to Cottonwood, AZ. We started in North Phoenix and drove through Wickenburg to the 89A North through Prescott, Jerome, and ended in Cottonwood before the driving home on the I-17. Along the way we hit some very fun, sharp turns leading into Prescott and Jerome, as well as some straightaways that were fun as well. Below the jump is the course we took and more pictures:

Overall we had a great time. We got a little lost taking the 89 North instead of the 89A North in Prescott, but otherwise it was pretty flawless. I can’t get over how much fun it was to see how my car could handle through the turns, as well as how responsive the throttle could be in sport mode. This is really the first time I’ve used the paddle shifters, and they actually came in quite handy because my brakes got pretty hot after some spirited driving through the mountain turns. It kind of reminded me of a video game because you could downshift so fast, just like tapping a button on a controller.

Here are some pictures from the cruise. Click on the pictures or visit my Flickr Gallery for fullsize downloads.
